Acne scars can influence your self-worth and the way you feel when you look in the mirror.

These scars are tough to deal with for anyone, and unfortunately will not go away on their own over time.

Halo offers several treatment options for Acne Scars.  There are pros and cons to all treatments, and the correct one will usually be determined by the type of scar, skin type, and the desired budget and downtime you are looking for.

For Acne Scars

Microneedling

Acne scars can be treated with microneedling (collagen induction therapy). It does this by injecting small needles into the skin, and administering regulated micro-injuries. The effect of this is stimulating collagen synthesis and skin renewal.

Benefits of Microneedling

  • Effectiveness: Patients using microneedling reported 31%-62% improvement in scar look versus non-microneedled patients. That’s a significant change!

  • Health Risks: Microneedling is considered safe for all skin types and pigmentations — even dark skin. It reaches only the dermis but no more of the epidermis.

  • There is little to no downtime: A bruise and minor redness during administration usually disappear within 3–4 days. It will allow you to restart your life fast.

  • Consistent Improvement: Evidence indicated steady improvement in acne scars with microneedling with excellent patient satisfaction.

  •

Good to Know...

In 33 studies, the procedure was reported significant reduction in acne scars at 3-12 months post-treatment. Clinical outcomes in the microneedling of atrophic acne scars were clinically improved in all patients.

Laser Treatments

Then there’s laser treatment, CO2 laser therapy which works on acne scars. This is a procedure using high-energy beams of light to destroy scar tissue in fine detail.

Benefits of Laser Treatments

  • Effective Remodeling: C02 laser therapy is very helpful one in changing scar tissue very well. What SilkPeel provides is an aggressive version of microneedling.

  • Improvement Rates: A small number of studies show that scars are 70% better off when patients undergo fractional CO2 lasers. That’s impressive!

  • Combination Treatments: Other modalities (like microneedling) may be used in conjunction with laser therapy to maximize results and possibly increase patient satisfaction.

Good to Know!

In a study of different types of treatment concluded that fractional laser treatment was probably the best of a range of different techniques for atrophic acne scars. In comparison tests, microneedling and CO2 were equally effective.

Yet, CO2 laser treatment in the more severe cases was often both more difficult to recover from and more effective.
